Biography Satya

Satya from Belgium did her dance studies at the Ballet Academy of Antwerp (B), the Humanity of Art in Ghent (B) and the High School for the Arts in Arnhem, The Netherlands. In  2002 she graduated as a professional dancer and is profesionnally actif in the dance scène. She worked as a free-lancer in several countries.

She developed herself more by taking workshops in London (Richard Alston), New York (Alvin Ailey School, Martha Graham School, Merce Cunningham Studio, Bruce Taylor, Trisha Brown Repertory, Jose Limon Studio and others) and Brussels (Joseph Tmim, Joan Leighton, Ultima Vez).
In 2003 Satya won a scholarship from Prins Bernhard Culture Fund and went to Senegal to learn African Dance. In Dakar she danced with The National Ballet of Daniel Sorano and the Contemporary Dance Company 1er Temps. For aereal dance and vertical dance, she went to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to do workshops with the Brenda Aereal Dance Company and Circo del Aire.

Satya danced with Beppie Blankert at the Oerol Festival, she also worked with Nir de Volff from Israel with his company Total Brutal in Amsterdam, Berlin and Frankfurt. In the summer of 2005 she went on a tour through Morocco with the theater group Amazigh, directed by Chaib Massaoudi, which won several theatre prizes. Satya acted and sang also when she worked with music theatre Hollands Diep. With the French company Ex–Nihilo, Satya is touring since 2006 with the piece, Trajet de vie, Trajet de ville, and continues performing with them.

Satya teached contemporary dance at The Amsterdam Dance Centre, The Dance University IUNA and their company in Buenos Aires and gave workshops for Ex-Nihilo in Korea and France.
